01. The Challenge :
The TRX project involved the need for a protective solution for concrete flyovers, where exposure to environmental elements could lead to deterioration. The challenge was to ensure that the flyovers were safeguarded against carbon dioxide diffusion, chloride ion penetration, and water absorption while maintaining their structural integrity.
02. PROPOSED Solution :
Dritech supplied the Dri-Gard CF 900 System, which included Dri-Gard CP 700, a silane-siloxane hydrophobic primer, and Dri-Gard CF 900, a solvent-based MMA protective coating. This system was applied to all columns, diaphragms, and parapet walls of the flyover. The Dri-Gard CF 900 System has successfully passed stringent test standards, proving its efficacy in reducing moisture-related issues without compromising water vapor transmission.
Areas needing surface re-profiling was also treated with Stucco-Flex+. This flexible, water-resistant acrylic stucco required no mixing, ensuring an efficient application and excellent adhesion.
03. FINAL OUTCOME :
The implementation of the Dri-Gard CF 900 System effectively protected the concrete infrastructure from environmental deterioration, ensuring long-term structural integrity and performance. The coatings have provided reliable protection against moisture and other damaging elements, extending the lifespan of the flyover and enhancing safety for users.
- Enhanced resistance against carbonation and environmental damage
- Increased hydrophobic properties to prevent moisture ingress
- Durable and flexible surface finish, reducing maintenance needs
- Improved lifespan of the TRX Flyover Bridge concrete infrastructure
- Sustainable, cost-effective protection, reducing future repair costs and ensuring the bridge's long-term structural integrity
